The Holmesburg-based Star Players, of the city Department of Parks and Recreation, presented Honk! The Ugly Duckling Musical on Friday night at Venice Island Performing Arts Center, 7 Lock St., in Manayunk.
There will be two more performances, on Saturday and Sunday, both at 7 p.m.
Honk! is a musical adaptation of the 1843 Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling.
The musical debuted in England in the 1990s.
Ugly is a swan mistaken as an ugly duckling shunned for his odd appearance.
His mom, Ida, shows love for her son.
Tickets are $20 at the door.
