The Clean Philadelphia NOW coalition has released a series of videos that spotlight community leaders who are fighting illegal dumping in their neighborhoods.
Among those featured is Lawncrest’s Dallas Herbert. His video can be viewed at https://www.instagram.com/p/DKNtK14SRgs/
For years, Herbert has fought trash dumping near the 5600 block of Newtown Ave. (Snake Road).
Earlier this year, about 4,000 tires were dumped in nearby Tacony Creek Park. A cleanup was held in April to remove the tires.
In the video, Herbert said, “I think what we need is enforcement. Catch some of these people that’s dumping. Put them on blast. Put their name out in public so their neighbors can see that these are the people who are making Philadelphia ‘Filthydelphia.’ “
Herbert, who has lived in Lawncrest for 25 years, is joined in the video by Justin DiBerardinis, executive director of the Tokany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed, and Madison Nardy, director of the 215 People’s Alliance.
In all, there are 10 videos. ••
