A feast for veterans

On Flag Day, June 14, American Legion Post 810 sponsored the burning of used American flags. After the ceremony the St. John Neumann Assembly #933 Knights of Columbus held a barbecue for the residents and staff of the Delaware Valley Veterans Home, 2701 Southampton Road. Members of the Assembly with their family and friends treated them to hamburgers, hot dogs, kielbasa, sauerkraut, baked beans, hoagies, potato and macaroni salads, coleslaw, soft pretzels, water ice, bags of chips, water, soda and beer.

The Knights thank all the businesses and people who donated to the event: State Reps. Ed Neilson, Martina White and Joe Hohenstein; City Councilman Mike Driscoll; ShopRites of Bridge Street, Morrell Avenue and Bensalem; MEI Catering; T.J. Fluehr Funeral Home; Fresh Works; Mayfair Beverage; Philly Pretzel (Parkwood); Herr’s; Odd Fellows (Walker Lodge); and Czerw’s Kielbasy. ••
