Glen Foerd, the 18-acre historic estate and public park along the Delaware River at 5001 Grant Ave., invites the public to celebrate the outdoors at its annual RiverFest event, a free, family-friendly celebration of nature, community and culture, on Sunday, July 13, from 3-7 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 27.
Guests can enjoy open boating on the Poquessing Creek and Delaware River throughout the day using Glen Foerd’s fleet of kayaks, canoes and rowboats. New this year will be a small regatta, for which six to 12 competitors are being recruited. Anyone interested in participating should email Rob DiTomasso at [email protected].
On land, visitors will find a range of hands-on environmental and arts activities provided by Glen Foerd’s River Ambassadors teen program, Lily P.A.D.S. and partner organizations.
RiverFest will also feature informational tables and activities from local partners, including the Pennypack Environmental Center, PA Game Commission, Riverfront North and Tacony LAB.
Attendees can enjoy local vendors, music and food from Good Karma, along with sweet treats from Mister Softee.
Visitors are encouraged to explore Glen Foerd’s historic riverside mansion, with self-guided tours available throughout the event. For those seeking a deeper dive, guided tours led by Executive Director Ross Mitchell will take place at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Attendees are advised to bring sunscreen, water, clothes and shoes suitable for getting wet or muddy, as well as blankets or chairs for relaxing outdoors.
RiverFest is free and open to the public. Optional donation-based tickets ($5, $10, or $15) are available to help support Glen Foerd’s ongoing environmental education initiatives.
