The Police Department said a Brink’s security officer was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon at the Holmesburg Shopping Center, on the 8400 block of Frankford Ave.
Police said that, at about 12:17 p.m., officers from the 8th District responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the shopping center.
Upon arrival, officers met a Brink’s security officer who reported being robbed at gunpoint by three unidentified suspects.
According to the security officer, he had just completed a cash pickup at a nearby store and was exiting the location when he was confronted by an armed suspect who ordered him not to move. As he attempted to reach for his service weapon, two additional suspects emerged from a silver 2022 Honda Accord parked behind the Brink’s vehicle. One of the suspects, who was identified as the driver, brandished a black AR-style rifle and pointed it at the security officer. During the confrontation, one suspect took the money bag, while another removed his Brink’s-issued handgun from its holster.
The suspects demanded that the security officer open the Brink’s truck, but were unable to gain full access due to the vehicle’s security locking system. The three suspects then fled the scene in the silver Honda, heading northbound on Frankford Avenue. No injuries were reported.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken. ••
