Somerton man apprehended for alleged sexual assaults

The Police Department announced that 37-year-old Dynel Walker, whose last known address is on the 13000 block of Philmont Ave., has been apprehended in connection with a series of sexual assaults that occurred from July 18 to Aug. 3, in the 9th and 17th police districts.

A total of five incidents were reported during this timeframe, all exhibiting a similar modus operandi, suspect description and geographic proximity:

• July 18 — 1900 block of Spruce St. — 6:40 a.m. The victim reported being sexually assaulted while walking her dog, after the suspect said, “Good morning, beautiful.”

• July 19 — 2000 block of Delancey Place — 3:13 a.m. The victim was sexually assaulted while attempting to enter her apartment building.

• Aug. 2 — 1600 block of Waverly St. — 8:15 a.m. The victim reported the suspect approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

• Aug. 3 — 400 block of S. 15th St. — 1 a.m. The victim stated she was walking to her car when the suspect approached from behind and sexually assaulted her before fleeing west on Naudain Street.

• Aug. 3 — 2500 block of Webster St. in Devil’s Pocket — 12:30 p.m. The victim reported she was unlocking her front door when the suspect approached from behind and sexually assaulted her. She screamed, and he ran toward Christian Street. ••
