Lawncrest Civic decides on 3 zoning cases

The Lawncrest Community Association recently considered three zoning cases.

The LCA approved legalization of a duplex at 636 Kerper St. The property was built as a duplex in 1959.

The group opposed a metal, electric, roll-up gate in the rear of a residential property at 6012 Hasbrook Ave. The gate is 12 feet high, twice the allowable height. A next-door neighbor described the gate as an “eyesore,” while other members said it looks like it belongs on a commercial property. A Zoning Board of Adjustment hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10.

The group also opposed legalization of a large side deck on a house at 601 Devereaux Ave. The deck is not set back enough from the adjacent property, according to code. The ZBA hearing is set for Sept. 17.
