Things are only just heating up at Borski Park in Bridesburg, which opened to the public in July.

The 10-acre greenspace at 3150 Orthodox St. is the newest – and final – park along the Delaware River under the stewardship of Riverfront North Partnership, the nonprofit that supports Philadelphia Parks and Recreation in the 11-mile greenway that includes Pennypack on the Delaware, Lardner’s Point Park, Frankford Boat Launch, Pulaski Park and others.

Following the successful Opening Splash event that brought more than 300 attendees to the park, Riverfront North Partnership and the newly formed Friends of Borski Park continue to add all-ages programming to keep the space active year-round.

We’re committed to making Borski Park a vibrant community hub. From movie nights to yoga and teen volleyball, we’re building a calendar that reflects the energy and needs of Bridesburg.

To usher in fall, Borski Park will welcome Parks on Tap, Sept. 10-14, joining the lineup of 26 city parks hosting Fairmount Park Conservancy’s traveling beer garden.

The family-friendly event will pop up in a section of the park where attendance is free and proceeds from food and drink purchases support ongoing maintenance of Borski Park. Riverfront North Partnership will also offer additional programming during Parks on Tap, which neighbors can get a sneak peek of by following the organization on social media.

A few nights later, Borski Parts will also host a free outdoor screening of A Minecraft Movie. Viewers can bring their own chairs and blankets on Thursday, Sept. 18, at dusk for an evening viewing under the stars.

And for neighbors looking for ways to stay active and enjoy a bit of serenity, the co-ed teen volleyball clinic runs Friday evenings through Sept. 12, and Violet Vine Yoga is holding Wednesday night all-ages “UnOrthodox” yoga sessions through Sept. 17.

“We want Borski Park to be a place where people of all ages feel welcome and inspired,” said Gina Craigo, Community Engagement Manager at Riverfront North. “Whether you’re here to play, relax or volunteer, there’s something for everyone.”

Those who wish to help take care of the park can join volunteer days or attend a monthly Friends of Borski Park meeting. Those events, and others, are listed at https://riverfrontnorth.org/visit/events/ ••
