World War II vet Peg Seiz passes away at 102

Margaret M. “Peg” Seiz, a resident of the Delaware Valley Veterans Home, died Aug. 5 at age 102.

Seiz was the wife of the late Edward Seiz; mother of Carol Rosenblatt, Trudy Lazzaro (Vincent), Marie Seiz Lavanga (Frank), Linda Iannarelli (Anthony) and Edward Seiz III (Diane); grandmom of Richard (Stephanie), Jill (Marc), Peter (Dominique), Nicholas (Holly), Mia, Laura (Andrew), Marissa (Dennis), Michael (Michelle) and Anthony (Emily); had 13 great-grandchildren; was the sister of Rosemary Croke, Frank O’Donnell (Julie), Edward O’Donnell, Joseph O’Donnell and the late Betty Gaughan, Helen Bechtle, Katherine Lashaw, Ruth O’Donnell, Charles O’Donnell, Robert O’Donnell, and William O’Donnell; and is survived by her sisters-in-law Trudy Synnestvedt and Fran O’Donnell and many nieces and nephews.

A veteran, Peg served her country during World War II as a member of the Navy WAVES. She was a talented artist and accomplished cook and baker.

Peg grew up in Germantown and then moved to Lawncrest when she married. She lived there for 60 years and was very active in the community. She belonged to the Women’s Club of Lawncrest; Lawncrest Friends of the Library; Lawncrest Art Guild; Lawncrest Golden Age; St. William’s Golden Age; Crest Lawn American Legion Post 832; Keystone Waves of PA Unit #6; and Waves National.
