Lt. Edwin Perez, of the 2nd Police District, attended the recent Fox Chase Civic Association meeting, joined by community relations officers Mark Mroz of the 2nd district and Al Fiorentino of the 7th district.
Mroz said the 2nd district recently received seven new officers, six from a police academy graduating class and one transferred from the Kensington Community Revival plan.
Mroz mentioned an Aug. 8 murder on the 500 block of Alcott St. Gunmen jumped out of a car and shot the victim.
Mroz said stolen autos are on the rise in the district, but the rate is declining for thefts from autos, shootings, murders, robberies, armed robberies, residential burglaries and retail theft. The 2nd is making more truancy, curfew and car stops.
