The ribbon cutting was part of Tigerfest, the university’s homecoming celebration.

The new facility includes locker rooms for home and visiting teams, public restrooms for fans, game-day concession stands, a training room and a changing area for officials.

Sister Mary Joan Jacobs, HFU’s faculty-athletics representative, blessed the fieldhouse.

Holy Family President Anne Prisco cut the ribbon.

Speakers included Director of Athletics Tim Hamill, state Rep. Pat Gallagher, state Sen. Joe Picozzi, City Councilman Mike Driscoll and Maureen Metz, chief operating officer of Metz Culinary Management.

Others on hand included cheerleaders, athletes and Blue, the Tiger mascot.

In other Holy Family news, the university on Oct. 15 broke ground on a 10,000-square-foot Welcome Center, an addition to Holy Family Hall. The addition will feature community gathering spaces, a state-of-the-art conference center and a student services hub. ••
