It took just three days for the good vibes of A.J. Brown’s most productive game of the season to turn sour. On Wednesday, October 22, Brown was placed on the Philadelphia Eagles’ first official injury report of Week 8, listed as a non-participant in practice because of a hamstring injury. The report came only three days after Brown’s breakout performance on Sunday in the Eagles’ 28-22 road win over the Minnesota Vikings, a game in which he hauled in four catches for a season-high 121 yards and two touchdowns.
During the October 19 matchup in Minnesota, Brown logged 46 of Philadelphia’s 50 offensive snaps and made the most of them. His first touchdown came on a fourth-down play in the first quarter, and his second score, which provided a two-possession lead in the fourth quarter, followed a 13-yard conversion on third-and-13 that extended the drive. Then, with 1:45 remaining, quarterback Jalen Hurts found Brown on a 45-yard pass to ice the victory.
Although Brown excelled on the field, the origin of his hamstring injury is still unknown. It was not reported during the game, and Brown had previously dealt with a hamstring injury during training camp but had not missed practice or game time so far this regular season. The Eagles have not provided details on the severity of the injury and are still determining whether he will be available Sunday when they host the New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.
As Brown’s availability hangs in the balance, the betting market has already reacted to the news. The Eagles opened as seven-point favourites for the Week 8 game, with some sportsbooks listing them at −7 or −7.5, and a total (over/under) set around 43.0 to 44.5 points. Receiving-yardage prop lines for Brown are being held back or priced more conservatively until his practice status is firm. Books and bettors are monitoring his hamstring notation closely: if he is cleared for a full workload, his prop line is expected to move higher; if he remains limited or sits, expect reduced prints and alternate betting options.
Through seven weeks of the 2025 season, Brown leads the Eagles in targets with 51, while registering 29 receptions for 395 yards and three touchdowns. Although teammate DeVonta Smith has more catches and yards, Brown’s big-play ability and deep-threat value continue to make him a focal point of Philadelphia’s offense.
The Eagles’ injury list for Wednesday also included multiple players. Center Cam Jurgens (knee), cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (concussion), outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari (hamstring), and linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (ankle) all did not participate in practice. Limited participants included guard Landon Dickerson (ankle/back), tight ends Dallas Goedert (calf) and Grant Calcaterra (oblique), cornerback Jakorian Bennett (pectoral), and defensive tackle Moro Ojomo (shoulder). Veteran defensive end Brandon Graham, who came out of retirement this week, was a full practice participant but has not been confirmed active for Sunday.
