Lexington Renal is a new state-of-the-art dialysis unit that is the first to offer both in-patient and out-patient services in the Northeast.

Among those attending the event were representatives of the city Department of Commerce, TD Bank, Burns Family Funeral Home and Cranaleith Spiritual Center.

Lexington Renal, which opened in April, is an 18-chair unit that complements Roosevelt’s chronic kidney disease-management program. It provides care and services to patients with CKD and related diagnoses. There is plenty of natural light and an isolation chair, available as needed for patients with COVID and the flu, and the unit has the capability to treat patients who are tracheostomy dependent. There are comfortable reclining chairs that are heated and offer back massages, along with nearby TVs that include cable channels.

Jimmy Jacob is administrator of Lexington Renal. He explained that Roosevelt Rehab residents – those in short-term rehab and permanent residents – are able to use Lexington Renal. Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances cover the treatment. Jacob said patient hospitalization rates have gone down.

Hours are 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Patients receive education on treatment options and disease management, skilled nursing services, nutritional support and counseling and resources from a social worker.
