There were a number of Veterans Day-related events in the Northeast in the days leading up to the annual holiday, which is celebrated on Nov. 11.
State Rep. Jared Solomon (D-202nd dist.), chairman of the House Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee, on Nov. 8 held a veterans appreciation breakfast and resource fair at the Knights of Columbus Holmesburg Council, 3300 Knorr St.
Veterans and their families were invited.
Representatives from various government agencies as well as public and private vendors were on hand to discuss services available for veterans.
Vendors on site were the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic, the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Marquis Health Consulting Services, American Legion Post 810, Operation Foster and the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
Meanwhile, Solomon hosts a veterans clinic at his office at 7104 Frankford Ave. on the second Thursday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A representative from American Legion Post 810 assists veterans with benefits.
