Bishop Keith J. Chylinski, who oversees Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, last week visited Archbishop Ryan High School for the celebration of Mass. Ryan students in the school’s Faith in Action classes served as readers and altar servers. Chylinski presented principal Joe McFadden and English teacher Ellie Luby with awards in recognition of 25 years of Catholic education.

The school gave Chylinski an AR hoodie, and the bishop made Ryan’s 880 students happy by giving them a future day off.

Steven Clement, Chief Administrative Officer for the Archdiocese Office of Catholic Education, was also on hand. Following Mass, Chylinski and Clement toured the school with McFadden, president Joe Sanginiti and senior Vonn Krieger.

Chylinski – whose first assignment as a priest was as a parochial vicar at St. Anselm (2007-11) — visited the music room and math and real estate classes as part of the tour.

Later in the school year, Chylinski will celebrate Ryan’s baccalaureate Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. ••
