Major League Baseball has confirmed that the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies will play at Dyersville, Iowa, in the third installment of “MLB at Field of Dreams.” The game is locked in for August 13, 2026, and will be held at the updated Field of Dreams movie site. This is the first Major League game at the location since 2022.
As part of MLB’s new media partnership, Netflix will air the event internationally. The league stated that “Netflix will bring MLB at Field of Dreams to fans across the globe live from the refurbished site in Dyersville.” MLB Network’s award-winning production team will work alongside Netflix to produce the broadcast. The matchup is designated as a home game for Minnesota, followed by a scheduled off-day before both teams continue their series at Target Field.
The Field of Dreams event was first staged on August 12, 2021, when the Chicago White Sox met the New York Yankees. A year later, on August 11, 2022, the Cincinnati Reds faced the Chicago Cubs. The debut game received significant acclaim, being named “Sports Event of the Year” by Sports Business Journal and earning FOX Sports a Sports Emmy Award for its live presentation.
MLB Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. stated, “Major League Baseball is excited to return to Iowa in 2026 and to deliver a unique experience to the Twins, the Phillies, their players, our two Minor League teams, and fans across the game.” Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds expressed the state’s enthusiasm, and Minnesota Twins Executive Chair Joe Pohlad said the opportunity is meaningful for the club and its fans. Phillies Managing Partner and CEO John Middleton described the selection as an honor for the organization.
As in earlier editions, a Minor League matchup will be part of the event week. On August 11, 2026, the Iowa Cubs, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, will host the St. Paul Saints, Triple-A affiliate of the Twins. The only previous Minor League meeting in Dyersville occurred on August 9, 2022, between the Cedar Rapids Kernels and the Quad Cities River Bandits.
The Dyersville game continues MLB’s multi-year effort to stage official regular-season contests in distinctive American venues beyond traditional Major League cities. Since 2016, these have included the Fort Bragg Game in North Carolina, the Omaha matchup during the NCAA Men’s College World Series, the earlier Field of Dreams games in 2021 and 2022, MLB at Rickwood Field in Alabama in 2024, the MLB Speedway Classic in Tennessee, and the annual Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The setting remains closely linked to the 1989 film Field of Dreams. The movie, featuring Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta, James Earl Jones, and Amy Madigan, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture and was later selected for the National Film Registry. Its best-known line, “If you build it, he will come” appears on the American Film Institute’s list of top film quotes.
