St. Martha students celebrate Thanksgiving with a parade

St. Martha Elementary School students kicked off the long weekend with a Thanksgiving eve parade in the gym.

The theme was Balloons Over St. Martha School, a takeoff on the book Balloons Over Broadway, which recounts the story of the puppeteer who created the first giant balloons floating in the air at New York’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

On Nov. 26, 200 students in Pre-K3 through eighth grade marched around the gym, with each class wearing Thanksgiving-related gear and carrying banners and their version of floats, as parents and other family members watched.

State Sen. Joe Picozzi served as grand marshal, and the St. Martha Tiger made an appearance. ••
