Manor College announced the hiring of Shelley Johnson as its Vice President of Finance and Facilities. Johnson officially began his new role on Oct. 28.
“I chose Manor College because I am deeply committed to its mission and values,” Johnson said. “The college’s focus on supporting students from diverse backgrounds and helping them achieve their academic and personal goals truly resonates with me. I find great professional satisfaction in being part of a community that prioritizes student success.”
Johnson comes to Manor College having spent more than a decade at Wills Eye Hospital, where he served as Director of Finance. Before his tenure at Wills Eye, Johnson was a financial leader at Thomas Jefferson University for 15 years, including Director of Operations.
Johnson is a CPA and is credentialed with an MBA in Finance from La Salle University. He was born and raised in Mount Airy and earned a bachelor’s of Business from Temple University.
“Shelley’s qualifications and experiences preceded him,” said Dr. Jonathan Peri, Manor College president. “We had four CPAs and six finance people on the search committee, plus other highly qualified executives. So what separated Shelley from the other candidates was how he evidenced himself to be far more than a numbers guy. He understands relationship dynamics and has strong emotional intelligence. He discussed the importance of attentiveness to others’ needs and he exhibited the maturity of knowing that, to describe the conversation as St. Basil might, ‘he who sows courtesy reaps friendships.’ When you collaborate with others, you achieve more together for those you serve.” ••
