The Ahmad Butler Foundation announced the release of its new short documentary, The Long Walk for Pediatric Cancer, capturing ABF’s ongoing 179-mile peaceful protest walk from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. The walk is continuing through Maryland and is expected to arrive at the U.S. Capitol on Dec. 16.
Created pro bono by Humanity Pictures and Amelio Media, the film highlights why the march is happening now: opposition to proposed FY2026 budget cuts to pediatric cancer research and a demand that Congress protect and increase federal investment in pediatric cancer research and treatment.
As she continues toward Washington, ABF founder and executive director Latanya Morrison will carry a petition signed by families fighting proposed cuts to pediatric cancer research funding. The petition will be delivered upon arrival at the Capitol.
ABF was founded in 2020 with a mission to support families battling pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases while striving to improve their quality of life. Designed around a holistic approach to supporting the needs of the child and the entire family, ABF’s programs focus on filling the educational, social, emotional and financial gaps families experience after diagnosis. Before passing away at the age of 6, Ahmad Butler dreamed of being a police officer and “helping a lot of people.” ••
