FreedomFest set for July 4

Dana Russikoff, who, along with husband Ron, heads the nonprofit One River Alliance, spoke at last week’s Holmesburg Civic Association meeting.

“FreedomFest is happening,” Russikoff said.

One River Alliance organizes the annual festival at Pleasant Hill Park on July 4, which will be a Saturday this year. The event features live music, vendors, food trucks, beer garden, Ferris Wheel and fireworks. New this year will be a flagpole and American flag installed in the park.

Meanwhile, Russikoff and her husband continue planning for development of the 6 acres they bought surrounding the Quaker City Yacht Club, 5190 Princeton Ave. Plans include a marina for boaters, restaurants, a swimming pool and parking garage. The yacht club will remain. Groundbreaking is possible in the fall.
