Police search for gunman in deadly shooting

A 34-year-old man was shot to death yesterday morning in the street near Wissinoming Park.

Philadelphia police had not disclosed the victim’s identity as of yesterday afternoon as the unidentified gunman remained at large. The shooting occurred on the 5800 block of Charles St. at about 11 a.m. According to a police source, the victim — who lived nearby — was walking down the street when the gunman shot him repeatedly. A motive is not known.

The victim stumbled into Wissinoming Park, where he collapsed, the police source said. Paramedics took him to Aria Health’s Torresdale campus, where he was pronounced dead at 11:21 a.m. ••
