Franklin Square jumbotron will broadcast pope events

Franklin Square, located at 6th and Race streets, will have a jumbotron broadcasting live all Pope Francis-related events on Saturday and Sunday.

The live feed broadcast on the jumbotron is the same live feed (not through a television network) that all viewers on Independence Mall and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will see. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.

Franklin Square is outside the security zone for the ticketed events on Independence Mall and the Parkway. It will open at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, and close at 8 p.m., or when programming concludes.

Amenities in Franklin Square include public restrooms, the Stephen Starr burger stand SquareBurger (which opens at 10 a.m. each day), a gift shop selling official Pope Francis merchandise, two playgrounds, a carousel and Philly Mini Golf.
