Man, pregnant woman shot in Frankford

Two gunmen opened fire on a group of people, including a pregnant woman, on a Frankford street last Thursday night, but the reason remains a mystery, much like the description of the brazen shooters.

Police do know that about a dozen shots were fired from two different guns on the 4100 block of Paul St. at about 10 p.m. The empty shell casings are evidence of that.

Four people were gathered outside a house on the block when two unknown men rounded a corner, approached the victims and opened fire. A 21-year-old man was struck in the back, while a 23-year-old woman who is eight months pregnant was wounded in the leg, said Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum of Northeast Detectives.

The woman was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition and later released. The man was also taken to Temple in critical condition with injuries that were not deemed life-threatening.

Victims and witnesses provided minimal descriptions of the shooters. Both were black men, one wearing a hoodie of unknown color and the other sporting long, braided hair. Detectives obtained surveillance video, but it does not show definitive colors due to the evening darkness. One witness said that the shooters fled in a white newer model Cadillac SRX, a crossover-type SUV.
