The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced the city’s largest heroin bust in two decades on June 10. It happened in the Northeast.
A task force involving both agencies arrested three men and confiscated $3.3 million worth of the illicit opioid during an investigation involving three properties at 1818 Bergen St. in Bell’s Corner, 1216 Levick St. in Oxford Circle and the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Stanwood Street in Rhawnhurst.
Williams’ office said that the bust stemmed from a money-laundering investigation that began in March. On April 28, officers and detectives stopped two men outside the Bergen Street house and allegedly found a kilogram of heroin on them as well as nine kilos inside the house.
Martin Paulino Gomez, 40; Domingo Cedno Pimentel, 26; and Ricardo Ortiz-Rolon (a.k.a. Acquiles Perez-Gomera), 36, were each charged with drug possession, possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy and racketeering. ••
