The friends of Mayfair resident and Holmesburg native John McAroy invite the community to attend a benefit fundraiser on Friday, June 19, at the FOP’s Heroes Ballroom, 11630 Caroline Road, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
McAroy had a heart transplant eight years ago at age 33 after a viral infection attacked his heart. Due to the prescribed medications he has been taking since then, his kidneys have become damaged and he now needs a kidney transplant. In the meantime, McAroy must undergo dialysis several times a week.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit McAroy and his family. McAroy grew up on Pennypack Street and graduated from Father Judge in 1991.
