Home run derby proceeds will benefit CHOP and baseball scholarship

The 11th annual Andrew Farrell Spirit of Courage Fund Home Run Derby will take place on Saturday, June 6, at George Washington High School, 10175 Bustleton Ave. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., and the contest begins at 10. The cost is $25.

Proceeds go to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and to a scholarship for a Washington baseball player who best exemplifies Farrell’s zest for life, leadership skills, determination and courage.

Farrell died in 2004 at age 21 after a long battle with leukemia. He was a popular pitcher/first baseman on Washington’s 2001 baseball team. His №25 jersey was later retired.

The fund also raises money at an annual golf outing. To register or for more information, go to andrewfarrell.org ••
