Man stabbed in home invasion

A Tacony man escaped serious injury when he returned home on New Year’s Eve, went upstairs and found a knife-wielding burglar rooting through his dresser.

It happened on the 4200 block of Hellerman St. shortly before 8 p.m. The homeowner cornered the intruder, who swung a blade at the homeowner before fleeing downstairs, into the basement and out the back door. The homeowner suffered scratches to his torso and did not seek medical treatment.

The crook made off with $1,200 cash and was last seen fleeing through an alley behind the home. He was described as black, in his late 30s, six feet tall and muscular. He wore a red hoodie. Call Northeast Detectives at 215–686–3153 to report information. ••
