Traffic accident spurs Oxford Circle shooting

An early Dec. 4 traffic accident seems to have precipitated a shooting that left a 41-year-old man wounded in his left arm, police said.

Second Police District officers who were responding to a report of a shooting at 12:40 a.m. on the 6600 block of Castor Avenue saw a black 1991 Chevy Caprice with several holes in its windshield and blood on the ground outside the driver’s-side door on the 1400 block of Magee Avenue.

Officers were approached by a man who came down a rear driveway who told them he had driven the car there after a man shot him on Castor Avenue. The man, whom medics transported to Aria Health’s Torresdale campus, told police a dark-skinned Hispanic man had backed into his car. When the victim told the man to pull over, the man got out of his car and shot the victim. The shooter fled in a Jeep Cherokee the victim told police was silver or burgundy with tinted windows. ••
