The Somerton Spartans football team recently won the Mighty Mites Division (9 and under) championship in the Northeast Suburban Athletic Conference (NESAC) with a 30–0 victory over Calvary A.A. It was Somerton’s first football championship in any division in about 30 years, according to team officials.

The coaching staff included John McSorley, Dave Comitale, Chuck Layton, Rick Leinenbach and Lou Disbot.
