Police search for suspect in NE bank robbery

The FBI/Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the man responsible for last week’s robbery of the Tompkins VIST Bank branch 8000 Verree Road.

At about 1:25 p.m. on Oct. 29, the man entered the bank, approached the counter and showed a demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled the bank and was last seen heading west on Rhawn Street.

The suspect is white, in his 20s, about 5 feet 8, with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket and wind pants, black and green knit Eagles hat, black square-framed glasses and a large brown fake beard.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the robbery or suspect is urged to call the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215–418–4000.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s capture. Tipsters can remain anonymous. ••
