Rhawnhurst McDonald’s robbed at gunpoint

Two masked men held up a Rhawnhurst McDonald’s at gunpoint and made off with cash from the restaurant’s safe last Thursday.

The heist occurred at about 4:15 p.m. at 7613 Castor Ave., police said, when the robbers entered the business with hoods covering their heads and with their faces obscured.

One of the bandits stood by the door as a lookout, while the other brandished a handgun and herded employees to the rear of the restaurant. The gunman ordered a restaurant manager to lead him to the safe where another manager was counting money. The gunman ordered the managers to place the cash and coins into a black bookbag.

The robbers fled eastbound on Glendale Street before turning between houses and running down a driveway. Both were described by police as “black or Hispanic” with light complexions. Both are in their early 20s. One was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and thin with a black puffy jacket, black cargo pants, black Timberland boots and a red and green Gucci belt. He wore a mask on his face. The other robber wore a gray scarf on his face. There was no further description of him. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
