Hearing delayed for accused band teacher

A preliminary hearing has been postponed for the suburban high school band teacher and Northeast resident who is accused of having sex with an underage student two years ago.

Bridgett F. Szychulski, 31, is due to appear in the Doylestown courtroom of Magisterial District Judge Mark D. Douple on Nov. 19. The hearing was originally scheduled for Monday.

Szychulski, of the 3800 block of Nedla Road, is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse involving someone under 16, statutory sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault of someone under 16. Between January and June 2012, she alleged had sex with a 14-year-old boy three times in various locations, including her car at twice inside Lenape Middle School.

At the time of her Sept. 16 arrest, she was assigned to Central Bucks South High School. She has been suspended from her job and banned from Central Bucks schools pending her criminal case. ••
