A Northeast native who practices chiropractic and holistic healthcare in Bucks County has joined the ranks of child advocates including Dr. Theodore Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) and Dr. Benjamin Spock, as well as Nobel Prize winners Dr. Jonas Salk and Linus Pauling, as a recipient of the International Academy for Child Brain Development’s “Statuette with Pedestal” award for 2014.

Dr. Michael Gorman was one of two recipients of the award this year, recognizing him for his work with profoundly brain-injured children. The prestigious award has been given annually since 1956 to professionals in a variety of specialties including anthropology, zoology, genetics, medicine, education, psychology, economics, government, bacteriology, ethnology and philosophy, among others. Recipients are selected for their contribution to the growing scope of knowledge of human brain development.

Gorman, 41, is the director of Gorman Optimal Health Solutions in Fairless Hills, which he opened in 2005 after leaving the physical therapy/sports medicine field. He is unique in that he has a background in traditional chiropractic as well as alternative medical practices. He was born and raised in Mayfair, graduating from St. Timothy School and Father Judge High School. He is the eldest of three siblings. His parents still live in the Northeast. ••
