Man charged in Pathmark attack

An apparent self-defense shooting outside a Northeast supermarket has resulted in criminal charges, but not against the gunman.

Last Thursday, authorities charged the wounded man, Dondi DeCosta, who on Oct. 12 allegedly pulled a knife on another man and his girlfriend in the parking lot of the Pathmark at 8700 Frankford Ave. The male victim, 38, was legally carrying a gun and shot DeCosta, 37, in the groin, police said.

DeCosta was hospitalized that day and, last Thursday, charged with aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime and related offenses. He was freed on bail Friday pending a Nov. 13 hearing. ••
