A woman’s screams scared off a would-be rapist on a Tacony Street last Wednesday evening, according to Philadelphia police.

At about 7:30 p.m., the victim was walking southbound on Torresdale Avenue before turning onto the 4600 block of Friendship St., where an unknown man knocked her to the ground and tried to remove her pants, police said. When the victim screamed, the attacker fled.

She described her assailant as black with a light complexion, in his early 40s, 6 feet tall with a medium build. He has dark, close-cut hair and large lips. He wore jeans-shorts and a black T-shirt. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
