On April 11, the Marriot in downtown Philadelphia hosted a three-day convention for the USA network show “Psych.” The first day of the event was led by Sage Brocklebank, the actor who plays the character Buzz McNab, a detective on the television series. Starting at 9 a.m. with doors opening at staggering appointments depending on ticket tiers, the event’s panels began at 1:30.
Following the beginning of the event and Brocklebank’s introductions, the first day of the convention had singalongs inviting fans to chant the lyrics to songs featured on a special episode after the conclusion of the show, “Psych: The Musical.” Additionally, after Brocklebank’s panel discussion, another singalong was hosted for the theme song of the show, “I Know You Know,” written by the show’s creator, Steve Franks, and performed in the series by The Friendly Indians.
Brocklebank was the sole actor featured on Friday, and the rest of the cast members made their debuts on Saturday and Sunday. Brocklebank spoke on a panel, discussing his time on the show and expanding on moments during the filming of the TV series.
The event offered various rooms and activities for the fans, such as an activity room where guests could go in and create bracelets. There was also an opportunity for guests to purchase merchandise with their favorite catchphrases on t-shirts, hoodies, baseball caps, and tote bags. Later on, during the Friday events, Brocklebank gave fans an exciting chance to meet him and get an autograph.
Friday also presented screenings from two episodes of the show, “Office Space” and “American Duos,” from season 7, episode 11, and season 2, episode 1, respectively. During the events, fans were also able to stand in front of posters to take photos of themselves in their cosplay outfits and show off their “Psych” merch. The event also held various panels during the day with fans and had a bingo contest, with the winner was announced at the beginning of the first episode screening.
The event took a two-hour pause in the middle of the day, resuming operations at 8 p.m. with karaoke and ending the night with a “Psych” theme welcome party for the audience with themed drinks and food provided.
The show is able to be viewed on streaming platforms Amazon Prime and Peacock.
