Dallas Goedert Restructures Contract, Commits to Eagles for 2025 Season

Dallas Goedert is staying in Philadelphia. After months of speculation, trade rumors, and stalled negotiations, the 30-year-old tight end has agreed to a restructured contract that keeps him with the Eagles for the 2025 season. This new deal pays him $10 million guaranteed, with a chance to earn an additional $1 million through performance incentives.

Earlier this offseason, Goedert’s future with the Eagles was uncertain. When the 2024 season ended, the team was not willing to keep his original $15 million cap hit on the books for 2025. At the same time, Goedert didn’t want to continue under a deal with no guaranteed money. For weeks, there was hardly any progress, and he missed the beginning of organized team activities (OTAs) while his agent and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman worked through options, including possible trades or a release.

Goedert later admitted that this offseason was unlike any other he had experienced. For the first time in his seven-year career, he wasn’t sure if he would still be with the Eagles. He said there were days when he sat at home, uncertain, thinking his time in Philadelphia might be over.

However, negotiations eventually moved forward. Both sides found common ground in early May. Goedert signed a revised contract that, while lower than his previous $14.3 million-per-year average from 2021, still places him among the top 15 highest-paid tight ends in the league for 2025.

The new deal gives the Eagles cap flexibility and gives Goedert a chance to prove he can stay healthy and productive. Since 2020, he has missed 21 games, which includes seven in 2023. Injuries have affected his availability, but when he plays, his numbers remain strong.

From 2019 to 2023, Goedert averaged 8.7 yards per target, second among NFL tight ends with at least 200 targets, behind only George Kittle. He also averaged 49 receiving yards per game during that period, which ranks seventh among tight ends.

Through his Eagles career so far, Goedert has 349 receptions, 4,085 receiving yards, and 24 touchdowns, putting him tenth in team history for catches, thirteenth in receiving yards, and nineteenth in touchdowns. In the postseason, his performance also stands out. He has 52 playoff receptions, the eighth-most among tight ends in NFL history. His 562 playoff yards rank eleventh, and his four playoff touchdowns are tied for tenth.

Beyond receiving, Goedert is also recognized as one of the NFL’s top blocking tight ends, which adds to his value on the field.

He was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Since then, he’s remained with the team, becoming a consistent contributor and a leader in the locker room.

The Eagles chose not to draft a tight end in the 2025 NFL Draft, a decision that reflected their continued trust in Goedert. At the same time, they welcomed Kevin Patullo as the new offensive coordinator. Patullo, who previously served as the team’s pass game coordinator and associate head coach, has been with the Eagles for four years. He knows Goedert well and said he’s looking forward to working with him in this new role.

Goedert joined the team during OTAs in late May, once his deal was in place. These practices are voluntary, but key players, including Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, were also in attendance. The Eagles are preparing to defend their Super Bowl title, and expectations are high across the roster.

Second-year cornerback Cooper DeJean said the energy in the city is intense. With fans expecting another championship run, the pressure is on. The mandatory minicamp begins on June 10, and the team has only a few more OTA sessions before that.

Goedert says he’s excited for the season and not focused on what happens after 2025. His goal is to stay healthy, have a strong year, and help the Eagles win again. If he produces a typical season—around 50 to 60 catches and 700 yards—he could earn another contract, either with Philadelphia or in free agency.
