James J. Anderson donates $500,000 to Judge

The Friends of Father Judge High School Inc. recently received a $500,000 commitment from James J. Anderson ′68, founder and president of James J. Anderson Construction Co. Inc., to establish the James J. Anderson ′68 Atrium in the newly constructed Career Pathways Academy building. The space serves as the Office of the President.

Anderson is a graduate of Resurrection of Our Lord Grammar School in Rhawnhurst.

Anderson and his wife Susan have been significant contributors to Father Judge. Over the last decade, they have served as the title sponsor of the President’s Cup Golf Outing and as a major contributor to the PA Tax Credit Program supporting tuition assistance for countless students totaling nearly $1 million to help young men in the region afford a Judge education.

In the fall of 2023, Father Judge launched a capital campaign, “The Campaign for 3301, Securing the Future of Father Judge.” Anderson joins a group of growing supporters who are investing in strategic initiatives to benefit a diverse population of students. To date, including this commitment, the school has secured $19.5 million toward its campaign goal of $20 million.

Brian Patrick King ′97, president of Father Judge, and a predecessor, the Rev. Joseph G. Campellone, OSFS, president emeritus, shared the following joint sentiment:

“On behalf of the entire Father Judge Community we sincerely appreciate this gift that Jim has so generously made to support our school, our mission, and our students as we aspire to create new pathways and career opportunities for our students. He is a prime example of what it means to be a Salesian Gentleman.

“Jim is a part of a long line of Crusaders who post-graduation moved on from 3301 Solly Avenue and used their God-Given talents to build out one of the region’s most trusted and respected heavy highway construction firms in the Philadelphia Region.”

Established in May 2002, The Friends is a state nonprofit corporation with officers and directors who fundraise on behalf of Father Judge. All funds raised by the organization are managed and securely designated for use at the school. Since its formation, The Friends has invested more than $17 million to make improvements to the school campus, provide financial aid and fund academic programs that complement the traditional curriculum. ••
