State Rep. Jared Solomon partnered with the Phillies and Gary Barbera to organize a tailgate party at Solomon’s office at 6434 Castor Ave. Solomon secured 200 Phillies tickets for police, firefighters, neighbors and business owners who were impacted by the Jan. 31 plane crash on Cottman Avenue. Caseem Wongus, who saved a little boy who was on fire by smothering the flames with his jacket and notifying a police officer to take the boy to the hospital, threw out the first pitch at the Aug. 29 game against the Atlanta Braves.

At the tailgate, Barbera and his charitable foundation “Gary Barbera Cares” provided hoagies from Dattilo’s and soft pretzels and hired buses for transportation to the game.
