Krasner must put Philly residents first
For too long, Philadelphia residents have been told to live with crime. We’re expected to accept shootings, carjackings and thefts as if they’re part of daily life. Meanwhile, our so-called leaders like District Attorney Larry Krasner look the other way as communities suffer.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Crime is a choice, and leadership is about making the choice to protect citizens. Sadly, Krasner’s soft-on-crime policies have made our neighborhoods less safe. Families shouldn’t have to fear walking to the corner store, or worry if their kids will make it home from school.
Contrast that with President Trump’s leadership. When Washington, D.C. was spiraling, he deployed the National Guard, and crime dropped. The mainstream media were up in arms, but results spoke louder than rhetoric. People were safer, and that’s what really matters.
Philadelphians deserve that same seriousness. We deserve leaders who side with law-abiding citizens, not criminals. It’s time for Krasner to wake up and confront the reality their policies have created. We don’t need excuses. We need accountability, action and a government that puts our safety first. President Trump has already shown what strong, decisive leadership can do, and Philadelphia deserves nothing less. Philadelphia can be great again, but only if our leaders finally decide to stand with the people instead of with criminals.

A voice is silenced
To paraphrase from Tom Petty’s song, The Last DJ:
There goes the last DJ,
who plays what he wants to play,
says want he wants to say.
Well there’s some who don’t like him talking so much.
There goes the freedom of voice
There goes the last human voice.
There goes the last DJ.

Groundhog Day
So, Krasner comes out of his rat hole to hold town halls about something that might occur. How about him holding town halls about his dropping of charges and reduction of charges in the cases his office is prosecuting. How about going to the neighborhoods where these shootings are occurring and seeing what the residents are living with. He’s like the groundhog. He only comes out at re-election time.

Blind obedience to Trump
I hope everyone is keeping abreast concerning some of the most recent town hall meetings happening across the country. May I make a suggestion to all Republican representatives. Write a note to self about blind obedience. “Backing” President Trump, no matter what he advocates, is not doing so well (to say the least) from both sides of the political aisle. Review your most recent political decisions and ask yourself is this the correct action to take. Yes, you will lose your most fanatical extremists. But, in my opinion, you’ll gain more respect and support no matter what their political affiliation. I classify myself as a Reagan Democrat. I know I’m in good company. May I suggest when you send out your newsletters of what is happening in your area and schedule a town hall meeting to be the conservative we are all so comfortable with. Just like we had in the 1980s. Take these actions and I am sure you will be re-elected.
Advocate what you are sure is best for you, your family and all your constituents. Most importantly, clearly express the concept that we all still want to live in a democracy. As I see it, if things don’t change, then step by step we are headed for a country that is based on authoritarianism and a white nationalism society. America must always be the land of the free because of the ones who are brave. So let us all “step up” and be brave enough to express what we know is right. As absurd as this sounds, always telling the truth must be the correct path to take.

Trump’s goons
Isn’t it amazing Trump’s ICE phonies are claiming to be locking up criminals who are rapists, drug dealers and all of them criminals. If that were true, we’d all be for it but they are locking up good people who are raising families. They are working hard and paying taxes. Some have even served in our armed forces. Now they’re locking up over 400 people from South Korea who are our friends and just about closing a business. The guy whom Trump admired from North Korea is now helping Putin and China to take us out. He’s also got a guy who’s running for governor of New Jersey who’s one of Trump’s MAGA flunkies who believes everything Trump says.

Murder rate still unacceptable
From North Philly to South Philly to West Philly, the mass shootings are scary scenes. These guns are the problem and they have to be taken out of hands. The best guess is they are most likely illegal guns being used and illegal guns should be permanently off the streets.
Going off of data from what I saw on the Philadelphia Police Department website phillypolice.com, Philadelphia is seeing a significant decrease in gun violence this year despite the summer shootings, with homicides dropping and shootings reaching their lowest level in over a decade. This is attributed to various anti-violence initiatives and the work of politicians, and particularly the Philadelphia Police Department. While the city has made strides, gun violence remains a persistent issue, from the city of Philadelphia to the surrounding Southeastern Pennsylvania counties. Personally I still believe in my opinion that having over a hundred fatal shootings is not acceptable at all in the course of a year. In reality because stopping gun violence has been a gradual process the shootings should be in the double digits close to zero and not the triple digits.
It still takes a collaborative effort from District Attorney Larry Krasner, Mayor Parker and the rest of the Philadelphia elected representatives to keep decreasing the numbers lower and lower. It just can’t be the same back and forth cycle every year.
