McMenamin Family ShopRite, 9910 Frankford Ave. (at Morrell Avenue), last week hosted a Help Bag Hunger event, held in recognition of September being national Hunger Action Month.
Among those bagging groceries were state Rep. Ed Neilson and 8th Police District community relations officer Cinnamon Hill and victims assistance officer Chalie Squares.
ShopRite customers were asked if they wanted to round up their bills to the nearest dollar or to make a donation, while cashier Alice Pierro sold raffle tickets, as part of the fundraiser.
The event is in its 26th year.
ShopRite held a similar event at its store at 11000 Roosevelt Blvd., with state Rep. Martina White and 7th Police District officers serving as baggers.
Meanwhile, McMenamin Family ShopRite recently added a store in Hatfield, Montgomery County. ••
