Northeast native hosts podcast on booming tribute band business

Created by Gendler, a George Washington High School and Temple University graduate, Tribute Band Sessions will be produced and distributed by Pantheon Media.

“At Pantheon, we’re always looking for fresh music-stories that haven’t been told,” said Christian Swain, CEO of Pantheon Media. “Our roster already includes major shows exploring music history, artist voices and fan culture. Mike brings real industry experience and connections — Tribute Band Sessions will deepen our exploration into how music is made, recreated and celebrated.”

The weekly podcast and video series will explore the booming global business of tribute bands, with the first episode dropping Oct. 15 on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and more.

Tribute Band Sessions takes listeners behind the curtain of this phenomenon — covering artistry, touring, fan culture, logistics and the business models that make tribute bands a thriving global force.

Gendler will host with rotating celebrity co-hosts and industry insiders.

“Tribute bands are one of the most passionate, yet misunderstood corners of the music industry,” Gendler said. “These aren’t just cover bands; they are dedicated artists preserving legacies. With Tribute Band Sessions, I want to give listeners the backstage pass — the artistry, business and stories behind a global phenomenon often overlooked.”

Gendler himself was a musician in the 1990s, including performing at a private party for Pink Floyd.

In 1999, Gendler co-founded EBE Events & Entertainment in his basement. Over 24 years, he built it into the largest private events entertainment company on the East Coast, producing thousands of events. The company performed in front of guests who included Taylor Swift, Dave Grohl and The Chainsmokers as well as corporations such as Apple and Microsoft. His company was also tapped to entertain at Super Bowl LVII in Arizona for Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.

In January 2024, Gendler sold EBE Events & Entertainment, shifting his focus to media production for film and television and developing new concepts — including Tribute Band Sessions.
