Fox Chase Cancer Center announced the hiring of Erika Samlowski, MD, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Samlowski will see patients at Fox Chase, Temple Health – Jeanes Campus and Temple Health – Chestnut Hill Hospital Campus.
Prior to joining Fox Chase, Samlowski was a microsurgery fellow at Kansas University Medical Center. She also completed residencies in plastic surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center and in general surgery at the Creighton University Medical Center.
Samlowski earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. During her time there she volunteered with the Medical College of Wisconsin Urban/Community Health Pathway: Girls on the Run, where she mentored young girls in exercise, nutrition and social development. Through this volunteer work she researched obesity prevention programs and presented the information gathered at a forum.
Samlowski earned her bachelor’s degree, with honors, in biology at Washington University in St. Louis. During her time there she was a laboratory assistant at the Nevada Cancer Institute, where she researched immunotherapy and gene-specific treatments for melanoma and other cancers.
Samlowski has contributed to a number of presentations, publications and research projects.
