Surveillance cameras at the CVS at 6501 Harbison Ave. took some color video of the culprit as he entered the business just before 9 p.m. on Jan. 16. The crook browsed the aisles briefly before taking a package of batteries from a rack and walking toward the door, police said.

The thief exited the store without paying. But when an alert employee attempted to stop him, the shoplifter punched him in the face and jumped into a gray SUV with a woman passenger. The worker suffered a deep facial cut as a result of the beating.

The crook is now wanted for robbery and related charges. He was described as white, 6 feet 2 inches or more, 275 pounds and in his early 30s. He has short, dark hair and a receding hairline. He had no facial hair and wore a gray hoodie sweatshirt, black pants and gray sneakers, police said.

He was in the company of a woman who appeared to be Hispanic with medium brown skin, in her late 20s and 5 feet 4 inches tall. She has short, light brown hair.
