Owner Jaclyn Ferry last week cut the ribbon to officially open her new bakery, Ferry Good Treats, at 12330 Academy Road.
Ferry – wearing a shirt that read “Bake Parkwood Great Again” – was joined by family, friends, state Rep. Martina White, Sen. Joe Picozzi, 8th Police District Community Relations Officer Cinnamon Hill and Alice Udovich, an aide to City Councilman Brian O’Neill.
“Thank you for welcoming me back to where I belong,” Ferry said.
Ferry is a former teacher who began baking in 2016, making 86 cheesecakes for Thanksgiving. She baked out of her house and at a location near Welsh and the Boulevard before returning to her roots in Parkwood, where she still lives.
White, who bought a couple of buttercakes, is happy to see an entrepreneur open up shop.
“Jaclyn has worked so hard,” she said.
Ferry Good Treats opened in late November and has been busy since.
“It’s been nothing but madness in the best possible way,” Ferry said.
Ferry Good Treats sells cakes, cookies, brownies and other sweets. Off-street parking is available behind the bakery, and there are entrances in the front and back.
“Anticipate me and my team being here a lot,” said Picozzi, whose office is across the street in the Parkwood Shopping Center.
