Valentine’s Day dinner dance to benefit addiction treatment

The Leigh Leckerman Foundation will hold a Valentine’s Day dinner dance with live music by the Dirty Dance Band on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Philadelphia Ballroom, 2014 Hornig Road.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the party begins at 7. There will be a buffet dinner, photo booth, floral bar, 50/50, raffle baskets and cash bar. Tickets cost $60.

Leigh Leckerman died in 2003 at age 21 when, after a night of partying, she was hit by a car operated by an alleged impaired driver while walking home.

The Leigh Leckerman Foundation was established in 2012. A registered 501(c)(3) serving Philadelphia and surrounding communities, the foundation provides referral and resource information as well as financial support for housing to those seeking drug and alcohol addiction treatment.

The foundation has partnered closely with Penn Medicine for the last few years, referring individuals for behavioral health services at HUP – Cedar Avenue and then later placing them for treatment.

In the last year, the foundation has helped the homeless, collecting more than 700 pairs of shoes and conducting a clothing drive.

The foundation relies on donors and supporters to perform its work. Plans are underway to hold a fundraising concert and golf tournament later this year.
