The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of Catholic Education announced Thursday that Father Judge High School president Brian King is moving on to become Director of Strategic Initiatives for Secondary Schools and Schools of Special Education.
King, a Mayfair native and 1997 Judge graduate, had served as president since 2016. Prior to that, he was director of advancement and operations for five-plus years.
King will start his new job on Tuesday, according to a letter to parents from Jay DeFruscio, Chief Operating Officer of Secondary Schools.
In his new role, he will help inform strategic planning efforts, strengthen collaboration across schools and support the development of capital project priorities within the Office of Catholic Education for the benefit of the entire system.
The Rev. Joseph Campellone, OSFS, who served as president from 2000-15, had already been serving as interim president and will continue to do so until a new president is hired. DeFruscio said the search will be “inclusive and transparent.”
While King was Director of Advancement and Operations, according to DeFruscio, he oversaw projects such as the James J. Ramp Playground revitalization and renovations to the cafeteria and track and field complex renovations.
In King’s role as president, DeFruscio said he led initiatives such as The Campaign for 3301, raising more than $20 million; the renovation and expansion of The Brisson Center for Academic Excellence; the construction of the Career Pathways Academy Building and the establishment of the Connelly Welding Lab, Faulkner Automotive Institute and the Elliott-Lewis Mechanical Services Institute; and academic partnerships with DeSales University and Holy Family University. ••
