John Teague, of the City Controller’s Office community affairs division, last week discussed ways to stop elder financial abuse at the Fox Chase Town Watch and Civic Association.

• Police officials on hand were Lt. Justin Morris, of the 2nd Police District; and Mark Mroz and Al Fiorentino, community relations officers in the 2nd and 7th districts, respectively.
Mroz said a shooting occurred at about 5 p.m. on March 9 inside Northeast Apartments, 7801 Langdon St. A 19-year-old female sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest and was transported by medics to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she died. A man was arrested.
On March 4, a verbal altercation led to a shooting on the 1200 block of Magee Ave. (near Summerdale Avenue). Vaswani Brown, 35, from the 1400 block of Levick St., was found lying on the highway with a single gunshot wound to the torso. Police transported the victim to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Mroz said, in 2025, 44 percent of retail thefts in the 2nd district took place at Wawa. In the 2nd, there are Wawa stores at 6400 Bustleton Ave., 6858 Rising Sun Ave., 7912 Roosevelt Blvd. and 7913-29 Oxford Ave.
Fiorentino said the 7th district, 1701 Bowler St., will welcome the Easter Bunny to hand out candy to children on April 4 from 10 a.m. to noon.
• State Rep. Sean Dougherty stopped by with his dog, Lucky. Dougherty said he and state Sen. Joe Picozzi recently secured $625,000 to modernize elevators at Temple-Jeanes.
• City Councilman Brian O’Neill will hold several events at his district offices on upcoming Saturdays, from 9-11 a.m. E-cycling will take place on May 2 at Bustleton Avenue and Bowler Street. A recycling bucket giveaway is set for May 16 at 432 Rhawn St., behind American Heritage Credit Union. Shredding, sponsored by Philadelphia Federal Credit Union, is scheduled for June 6 at FOP Lodge 5, 11630 Caroline Road.
