Attempted murder charges filed in slashing

An Oxford Circle man is facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly slashed the face of a co-worker during a quarrel over their work responsibilities.

Police identified the attacker as Michael Bozzi, 45, of the 900 block of Anchor St. Last Thursday at about 7:40 a.m., Bozzi and a 47-year-old man argued at their mutual place of work at 18th and Ritner streets in South Philly. Police did not identify the business by name.

When the dispute became physical, Bozzi allegedly pulled out a paring knife and slashed the other man’s face three times. The victim reported that the two were arguing “over who receives more work,” police said.

After the assault, Bozzi allegedly tossed the knife into a trash can on the property, but stuck around and continued to argue with the victim. Police arrived a short time later and arrested Bozzi without further incident. The victim was taken to University of Pennsylvania Hospital in stable condition with large gashes to both sides of his face.

Bozzi is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses. ••
