More than two months after releasing surveillance video of a robbery at a Wissinoming convenience store, police have announced the arrest of the suspected crook.

Berwin Stone, 21, allegedly pointed a knife at a cashier and stole $300 from the Wawa at 6101 Harbison Ave. on June 13. Police released surveillance video of the then-unknown robber in late June.

On Aug. 24, a second similar robbery occurred at the same store, when the crook pointed a knife at a cashier before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash and cartons of cigarettes. As police were investigating that heist, a shooting occurred nearby at the rear of the 3100 block of Levick St., police said. When officers arrived at that location, they spotted Stone, stopped him for investigation and identified him as a suspect in the Wawa robbery minutes earlier.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting. Stone was not charged in connection with the shooting, but detectives later linked him to the June 13 robbery after reviewing the surveillance video.

Stone, of the 1600 block of Brill St., remains in prison in lieu of $25,000 bail while awaiting trial. ••
